Welcome to goodconsciouslife.com

Hi, and welcome. We (Birgitte and Søren) are delighted that you’re here.

On this page, we’ll briefly tell you about the website, ourselves, and the way we work; starting with why we have chosen exactly Good Conscious Life as the name for our site.

Why Is Our Website Called GoodConsciousLife.com?

We can put it shortly:

We all want to have a good life – this goes for you, for me, for everybody. The most effective way to create the life you want is by increasing your awareness and thus giving yourself more consciousness.

Consciousness is what it’s all about. The more consciousness we give ourselves, the better. In every way.

It's all about consciousness. Photo of the sun shining behind clouds.

More consciousness leads to more joy, more happiness, more love, more inner peace, more freedom, more wholeness, more meaning in our lives, and more of anything else we desire. More consciousness also leads to a better work life, a better love life, a better sex life, a better family life, and a better “leisure life”.

Other Ingredients in a Better Life

However, it’s not just consciousness and awareness that’s important. A better life also involves:

– personal power (empowerment)
– making choices (will) and setting clear intentions, as well as sticking to one’s decisions (willpower)
– taking action, acting on one’s decisions
– how you see yourself (self-understanding, self-image, identity)
– how you view life (life perspective, understanding of life, worldview)

We (Birgitte and Søren) help people with all these things.

Wholeness Is the Whole Point

Life is most rewarding when you on a fundamental, existential level realize this:

Above all, a better life is about wholeness: being a whole person. Understanding the larger aspects of wholeness we are part of. Understanding the smaller parts of wholeness we consist of.

Why? Because…

In practice, wholeness turns out to be what gives us meaning and leads to a good view on life, a good self-understanding, a pure and strong will, empowerment, and most importantly, love, happiness, inner peace, meaning, freedom, etc.

The fortunate thing is, the path leading to all these things is quite simple and can be summed up in a single word. That word is …

Truth … Yes, Truth Is King

When we work with our consciousness, truth is king. Truth – the way that things actually are (that-which-is) – is BOTH our most important tool AND the goal of our work.

We just need to uncover the truth.

Honestly, it couldn’t be easier, right?

And who wouldn’t want to understand the truth about who they are? Or the truth about life? Or the truth about reality, love, meaning in life, or anything else?

To find the answers to these things (that is, the truth, reality, that-which-is), we also use truth, just as a tool.

So when we work with our consciousness, it’s about unearthing just one single, tiny truth; then we can use it to uncover a bigger truth, which we can then use to find an even bigger truth.

There’s no method or tool more powerful or effective than truth, if you just keep using it over and over.

It’s actually just a matter of practice.

Here’s the point:

More truth = more consciousness.

The more we increase our conscious awareness, the more of the truth we understand. And vice versa: The more we realize the truth (that-which-is), the more we increase our conscious awareness.

The interesting thing is, we all know the truth. We have just forgotten it. When we train ourselves to find the truth about everything, we will start to remember how things actually fit together. We will begin to see reality as it actually is (that-which-is), and we will begin to see ourselves as we actually are.

The More You Let Go of Old Misunderstandings, the More Truth You Will See

And just to catch you before you ask, we will stress: No, these things are NOT scary, they are fantastic, wonderful. But the PATH to them can be a little scary because we have learned so many things that are not true, a lot of misunderstandings, a lot of misinformation that we need to let go of to move forward.

Here’s the point about that thing:

Truth (reality, that-which-is) is what remains when we let go of everything that is not 100% true.

Let go to see the truth. Dandelion.

This also means that …

Unlike all the world’s religions, belief systems, philosophies, ideologies, and all sorts of other ‘-isms’ (such as capitalism, fascism, communism, etc.), we (Birgitte and Søren) don’t need to tell you what the truth is, we just need to help you let go of everything that is not true. Then you’ll find your own truth.

It couldn’t get easier than that.

Does a Better Lift Come with a Price?

All these things about truth, love, freedom, happiness, inner peace, meaning, and wholeness sound so lovely and appealing, but what’s their price? Aren’t there costs to everything?

Yes and no.

If we set aside the fact that we all need to pay for food, clothing, and a place to live then there are one or two much more important things that might seem like costs for people who want a better life. Whether they actually ARE costs or not is debatable.

The First (Apparent) Cost: Change and Uncertainty

Improvement is a change, isn’t it? This means that part of the “price” for a better life is change.

If we don’t change anything, our life won’t get better. If we continue as before, our whole life (all else being equal) will continue to be “more of the same”.

But. Most of us don’t like change – in fact, we hate it. Many of us have spent so many years (or rather: decades) creating the personality and the life we have, thus we’re certainly not excited about the idea of changing it. Not even if we’re dissatisfied. Because what if it gets even worse than it already is?

Fortunately, we can give a very precise answer to that:

When we increase our awareness, the end result is that everything gets better. Always. It NEVER goes the other way.

But it’s not all smooth sailing …

The Second (Apparent) Cost: Confronting the Pain

The path to greater awareness and a better life can be a bit scary because along the way in the process of becoming more aware, we almost always encounter negative, uncomfortable things (like old traumas, for example) that we need to look at, accept, and free ourselves from. And fortunately, we can do that.

Along the way, we also occasionally experience taking three steps forward and two steps back. But we are moving forward, becoming more aware, and start feeling better, and that’s what counts.

The Third (Apparent) Cost: Saying Goodbye to Misunderstandings

We’ve grown up in an unconscious world and have learned a whole lot of things that are not true, a lot of misunderstandings that we now believe in but that we need to give up. In short, we have a lot of misinformation that we need to let go of to move forward. Fortunately, we can do that as well, but all these three things – change, confronting the pain, and saying goodbye to misunderstandings – can be experienced as a price to pay for a better life, and that “price” is something we need to be willing to pay.

Becoming More Yourself Should Be Both Exciting and Fun

A process of becoming self-aware is a development process, and as we develop ourselves, we become more ourselves, more authentic, but also ‘bigger’ in a sense. We grow.

How we experience growth varies, but like any other experience, it’s actually primarily a decision. Our decision. We can choose how we approach personal development, and we can also choose how we experience it, meaning what filter we put on our experience.

In our opinion (Birgitte’s and Søren’s), becoming more aware, personal development, and creating a better life should be exciting, interesting, as well as fun. In fact, it should also be as easy as possible and happen as quickly as possible.

Since it’s the case that we can choose how it should be, why shouldn’t it be that way?

So that’s our approach.

This is how we believe personal development and raising our conscious awareness should be: fun, interesting, exciting, easy, effective, and fast.

Children Show Us the World’s Most Effective Approach to Personal Development

Children as role models in personal development.

How do you achieve that? Well, by thinking about who have the most to learn while having the most fun … The answer is children, of course, more specifically children who play.

Children are naturally open, non-judgmental, playful, and experimental, and they assume that anything is possible, at least until the opposite is thoroughly proven.

Children are also not the least bit afraid of making “mistakes” or “failing” at things – they just keep trying in different ways until they’ve learned what they wanted. If they didn’t accept falling 10, 20, or a hundred times, they would never learn to walk. If they didn’t have a relaxed attitude about not being able to speak properly from the get-go and experimented with language, they would never learn to talk.

If children didn’t have an open, playful approach to everything, they would never learn all the many, many things they need to learn.

So children are our role models. Yep. That’s how it is. When we (Birgitte and Søren) work with consciousness and personal development, we approach it openly, non-judgmentally, inquisitively, playfully, and experimentally.

And it’s not just some odd theory we have: Experience has taught us that the playful approach is the easiest and most effective, but also the most enjoyable one there is.

Why Do We Do What We Do?

A cow is a cow, and a cow is good at being a cow, just like e.g. ducks seem to be absolutely fantastic at being ducks.

We humans, on the other hand, have a harder time. We run into all sorts of crises, almost all the time. Crises in relationships, crises at work, crises in the family, in bed, or with our body, mind, emotions, and so on. Why?

Perhaps first and foremost because we are so flexible. Being flexible is good, of course, but not if it means that we forget who and what we are. A duck is clearly not in doubt about being a duck. We humans, on the other hand, have adapted to so many different things (such as family, friends, culture, traditions, rules, laws, etc.) that we no longer have any idea about who we actually are.

To function optimally as a human. Just as optimally as ducks function as ducks.

We, Birgitte and Søren, have been focused on creating a better life for ourselves for years. (In Søren’s case, for more than a decade). We haven’t had any guidance in this, but have found our own way – and we still do. We have undergone a tremendous amount of personal development, been through many different processes, and have grown a lot. Our lives have become better, much better, than they were, but there is still room for improvement.

Right now, we feel that the time has come for us to go out into the world and help other people. (For Søren’s part: again, but now in a different way). Our own personal expression of this is:

“Doing what you are.”

That is, to create alignment between who you authentically are and what you do in life – the way you live, and the life you have. This aligmenment paves the way for your to create the life you want.

It’s not just about being a human being, but to be exactly the human being you actually are, and let your entire life reflect that. Or at least get as close to it as you feel you can right now.

This is a goal in itself for us.

And that’s why we have created this website and started offering our help to others. Because helping others towards more consciousness, self-awareness and a better life is who we are. Both Birgitte and Søren. By helping others in this exact way, we are being true to ourselves. We are helpers in consciousnesss. Or, as Søren usually calls himself: a consciousness guide.

If this has sparked your curiosity, you are very welcome to contact us.
