Ah, New Year Quotes. They remind us it's the time to reflect
and think ahead. And, more importantly, the time to get present
and start anew. In the words of a famous and unintentionally
very funny modern American politician one thing is for darn sure:
The future will be better tomorrow.
~ Dan Quayle ~
It is funny how most people fail to place as much emphasis on
New Years as they do on Christmas. Christmas time is when all
the shopping happens, when family comes together, and the time
that most people consider 'magical'. But what can be more
magical than wishing off the old year as the new one sails in?
The New Year, like an infant heir to the whole world,
was waited for, with welcomes, presents, and rejoicings.
~ Charles Dickens ~
Saying farewell to the old year with a (potential) mate in
one hand and a cold drink in your other hand is a great time to
think about all the good times you've had, and you can refill
that drink as you bring in the New Year with a cheer, a beer,
and a kiss.
Or, more likely: Lots of the above!
Life is short,
so make it a sport
to get rid of fear
and have a great year!
~ Soren Lauritzen ~, the Personal Development Guy
May your hair flourish, your pimples diminish, your
abs harden, your heart soften, your teeth whiten, your skin
darken, your stocks rise, your cholesterol fall, your happiness
increase, and your mortgage decrease, as you will be in serious
trouble if everything is in reverse.
~ Funny New Year Wishes & Quotes ~
Stir the eggnog, lift the toddy, Happy New Year,
everybody.
~ New Years Quotations by Phyllis McGinley ~
An optimist stays up until midnight to see the new
year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.
~ New Year Quotations by Bill Vaughn ~
Yes, the New Year is a time when the old goes out and the new
comes in. This is the perfect time for you to think about the
last year, read some wonderful New Year quotes, and determine to
face the New Year with aplomb. Or at least do so the minute the
hangover wears off …
YES, the New Year is going to be pretty much like the
old one – unless YOU change that. YES, this means you must
ignore or let go of your fear, take a chance and do something
new. And YES, it's scary; but YES you can do it, because it's
YOUR life where YOU get to choose that you want to LIVE! Or not.

New Years Quotations and New Year Thoughts: Hey! You're
Still Here!
In the midst of all the partying and festivities, a lot of
the context of New Years is lost. After all, think about it for
a minute:
You just made it through a whole year of living your life,
enjoying the good, dealing with the bad, barely surviving the
terrible, and hoping that the really, really crappy doesn't
come!
You survived a year of work, pressure, stress, fights,
arguments, and misunderstandings with your boss, your spouse,
your friends, your kids, your parents, and total strangers in
traffic and supermarket lines.
You made progress as a person, you became a little bit better
in your own way, you have another year's worth of experience
that you didn't have last year, but you are in exactly the same
prone position you were in on January 1st after too much
drinking. Ice pack, nasty hangover recipe, and all. Or, you're
not, in which case you just may have grown a bit more than you
expected. 🙂
Another fresh new year is here …
Another year to live!
To banish worry, doubt, and fear,
To love and laugh and give!
This bright new year is given me
To live each day with zest
To daily grow and try to be
My highest and my best!
I have the opportunity
Once more to right some wrongs,
To pray for peace, to plant a tree,
And sing more joyful songs!
~ New Years Quotes by William Arthur Ward ~
You've enjoyed a year full of fun, made memories that will
stick in your head, created new relationships, brought old
relationships alive, terminated some friendships that weren't
and made it through a year without actually killing anyone (so
we hope).
And this is all just within the last 365 days…
No reason, really, why you shouldn't be happy, right?
Happiness is too many things these days for anyone to
wish it on anyone lightly. So let's just wish each other a
bile-less New Year and leave it at that.
~ Judith Crist ~
The New Year presents us with a whole new chance to get
things right, and it is a far more magical time than people give
it credit for.
While New Year's Eve may have the magical ability to
turn intelligent people into gibbering idiots, put people
standing vertically into horizontal positions, and somehow use
all of the telephones AND the toilets in the world at the same
time, there is far more to New Years than imbibing the magical
elixir / poison that is alcohol. There's lovemaking and
vow-breaking and getting badly hung over, too. Oh, and getting a
fresh start.
~ Quotescoop.com ~
The New Year is a time when most, if not all, of your
past mistakes and stupidities are erased … and the New Year is
a brand new slate upon which you can create even more and better
mistakes and stupidities!
~ Quotescoop.com ~
However, the fact that New Years is a time when past wrongs
are forgotten, past mistakes laughed at, and alcohol is passed,
is something that truly makes this event a magical time that we
should all stop and think about. Or, at least give it a few
seconds between drinks.
New Year's Resolution: To tolerate fools more gladly,
provided this does not encourage them to take up more of my
time.
~ James Agate ~
New Years Resolutions: Why Do We Make Them and Break Them?
One very interesting New Year saying comes from the great
mind of Benjamin Franklin:
Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your
neighbors, and let each New Year find you a better man.
~ Famous New Year Quotes by Benjamin Franklin ~
That particular New Year quotation is rather well known, but
there is a 'but' to it: Is it really such a great idea to be at
with war anyone or anything? Experience shows that trying to
suppress your 'vices' (which is a pretty debatable concept in
the first place) or trying to otherwise fight them gets you
about as far as you can toss an elephant.
Every time you make a New Year's resolution about it, you end
up letting that resolution slip between your fingers like so
much sand. It usually takes only a couple of weeks, rarely as
much as a couple of months. Have you noticed? You have, haven't
you?
The thing is that behind every 'vice' or 'bad habit' (and
many of your other problems and challenges as well) lies a
perceived need.
So many problems and challenges come from our
perceived needs. Our needs are oh, so important to us, but the
funny thing is most of our perceived need aren't even real.
Understanding this and letting go of your needs sets you free in
ways that few other things will.
~ Soren Lauritzen ~, the Personal Development Guy
And when you believe that this need MUST be fulfilled (or:
your subconscious believes this), and you believe that your
'vice' or bad habit actually fulfills this need in some way,
well, then you're NEVER going to
let it go and be free of it. You can fight it as much as you
want, but what you resist persists! End result:
Many people look forward to the New Year for a new
start on old habits.
More on Those Pesky New Year's Resolutions
Why ELSE is it that every year we start the first 24 hours of
the year with fresh-scrubbed hope, burning passion, and a plan
to be the best everything, and yet, 24 to 350 hours (that would
be two weeks) later, we have already broken our resolutions and
promises?
A New Year's resolution is something that goes in one
year and out the other.
~ Funny New Years Quotations ~
That's the funny thing about human nature: we each tend to
make grand promises and fail to keep them the first chance that
they seem too hard. If you want to succeed with your New Years
resolutions, you may find that it will take a lot more
discipline than you might like. So, one wonders, why not just go
for something you can actually do:
Every new year people make resolutions to change
aspects of themselves they believe are negative. A majority of
people revert back to how they were before and feel like
failures. This year I challenge you to a new resolution. I
challenge you to just be yourself.
~ New Years Quotes by Aisha Elderwyn ~
A further problem is that your promises are made in the old
year, and you've JUST started afresh, right? What happened in
the old year stays in the old year!
Finally, you often start the first day of the New Year
recovering from your hangover and resting. And so, depending on
your new year's resolutions you may have already broken your
promise to yourself the first day of the year, and guess what:
that tends to set the tone for the rest of the year.

I have no way of knowing how people really feel, but
the vast majority of those I meet couldn't be nicer. Every once
in a while someone barks at me. My New Year's resolution is not
to bark back.
~ New Years Tucker Carlson ~
Another reason that many people fail to keep their New Years
resolution is that they have no one to hold them to it, and we
all know that quite a bit of work would never be done if it was
'optional'. Or, that is the general belief, anyway.
But when you think about it, who is to say that there
wouldn't be someone (or: some way) to have every important job
on Earth done by either machines or someone who loves doing it?
Either way, having someone help you stay accountable for your
new year's resolutions definitely helps.
May all your troubles last as long as your New Year's
resolutions!
Some More Slightly More Serious New Years Quotations
In the same somewhat serious vein Emily Miller has one of the
best New Year quotes for you, and it is put very succinctly in
her little poem below:
Then sing, young hearts that are full of cheer,
With never a thought of sorrow;
The old goes out, but the glad young year
Comes merrily in tomorrow.
~ Emily Miller ~
Imagine what the next year will bring about. The New Year is
a time filled with joy and cheer, sorrow and misery, work and
stress, trials and tests, friends and family, living, loving and
giving.
There is so much to look forward to in the year ahead, so why
not take some time to think about all the things that you
experienced in the last year that were truly awesome. Think
about the good times, the bad times, the hard times, the easy
times, the times when you felt like taking someone's head off,
the times when you were so tired you couldn't get out of bed,
and the times when you made giant mistakes that people around
you (often: your significant other) had to forgive you for.
Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a
going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.
~ Hal Borland ~
May this be the year where you sense the small still
voice within and learn to trust this intuition.
~ New Year Quotations by Soren Lauritzen ~, the
Personal Development Guy
Suggestion: Before you continue reading the New Year quotes
and New Years sayings below, take a few minutes to add up all
the good and all the bad. You may be surprised to find that your
list of good is way longer than the list of the bad, as the good
tends to stand out and the bad tends to be erased by alcohol, he
he.
Edgar Albert Guest has one of the most famous Happy New Year
quotes:
A happy New Year! Grant that I
May bring no tear to any eye
When this New Year in time shall end
Let it be said I've played the friend,
Have lived and loved and labored here,
And made of it a happy year.
~ Edgar Guest ~
Can this be said of your last year? Did you bring tears to
the eyes of your loved ones? Did you 'play' (i.e. be) the friend
to someone in need? Did you live, love, and labor in a way that
made you happy?
If so, then there is no doubt that you truly had what Edgar
Guest would have considered a Happy year in his New Year quote.
Are you thinking back with a bit of a cringe, a twinge, and a
bit of regret for some of the things that you did in the last
year? If so, there is great news for you: the New Year tends to
erase the giant screw-ups you made last year. Granted, not
everything will disappear, but you will find that most of the
petty things that made last year so difficult tend to evaporate
for at least 24 hours come the New Year.
If you can be man or a woman enough to put those things
behind you, you can stretch those 24 hours out to eight thousand
seven hundred and sixty hours (yeah, we did the math: 24 hours a
day times 365 days in a year makes 8760 hours in a year). Just
because all those petty things 'were so last year' does NOT mean
that have to be like that THIS year. That is up to you!
The bad news is time flies. The good news is
you’re the pilot.
~ Michael Altshuler ~
The single most important determinant of your life
experience is your free will. Feel free to use it!
~ New Year Quotations by Soren Lauritzen ~, the
Personal Development Guy
Forgiving yourself and others and putting all those squabbles
behind you is the best way to be as up to date and present as
possible. And you do want to say present, for sure. After all,
that's where all the fun is!
G. K. Chesterton was an industrious English author who wrote
(often humorous) books, plays, poems, fantasy fiction, detective
novels featuring a Catholic priest and much more, and his New
Year quotes provide an insight into the heart and mind of this
amazing man. Let's end this serious section with one of his
quotes:
The object of a New Year is not that we should have a
new year. It is that we should have a new soul and a new nose;
new feet, a new backbone, new ears, and new eyes. Unless a
particular man made New Year resolutions, he would make no
resolutions. Unless a man starts afresh about things, he will
certainly do nothing effective. ng effective.

A Few More Funny New Year Wishes and New Year Quotations
What we are really celebrating when we hoist 5 drinks too
many at New Years is the progress that we have each made
personally in the last year. Everyone has learned new things,
gained more experience, and become a better person in their own
way.
That is one of the purposes of the celebration, and you may
find that celebrating the ways that you have become a better
woman or man is the best way to ring in the New Year. Well, that
and a good old fashioned New Years smooch with the man/men
and/or woman/women of your choNow, as this page is (finally)

May your dinner be finished before the telemarketers

be able to balance your checkbook like the IRS.ook like the IRS.

May your podiatrist, gastroenterologist,
cardiologist, proctologist, psychiatrist, urologist, and, most
importantly, your plumber, give you a clean bill of health.
If you live among fear driven sheep, may you choose

May the words "I love you" be heard when you talk to
your kids, your spouse, your parents, and your favorite lunch,
but not necessarily when you talk to your tennis coach, your

Final Words on New Year Wishes and New Year Quotations
This world we live in IS a wonderful world. Yep, we can make
it even better if we so choose, but we don't have to – all we
have to do is open our eyes and see what is already there, just
like one of these New Year quotes indicates:
May you let go of a core belief this year and see the
beauty and splendor of reality.
~ New Year Quotations by Soren Lauritzen ~, the
Personal Development Guy
And may we live in a world at peace and with the
awareness of God's love in every sunset, every flower's
unfolding petals, every baby's smile, every lover's kiss, and
every wonderful, astonishing, miraculous beat of our heart.
~ Inspirational New Years Quotations ~
"What a wonderful world this would be" exclaimed
Louis Armstrong in an all time evergreen of the same name,
and apart from being a truly great musician he truly had the
right of it. If we all took time to look around us at all the
marvels and wonders of the world, each New Year would be
something of magic and wonder. In fact, we'll take the liberty
of ending this page by quoting the What a Wonderful World lyrics
right here:
I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom, for me and for you
And I think to myself: what a wonderful world.
I see skies of blue, and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself: what a wonderful world.
The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands, saying 'how do you do?'
They're really saying 'I love you!'.
I hear babies cry, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
And I think to myself: what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself: what a wonderful world.
Oh yeah!
